About the Department

The Department of Education and Psychology is one of the core departments at Nalut College of Education, established during the academic year 2013-2014 as one of the departments within the College of Education. The first graduating class from this department was in the year 2016-2017. The department accepts students who have obtained a high school diploma and grants a specialized university degree in Education and Psychology, known as "License," after completing four years of study.

The Department of Education and Psychology has worked hard to achieve many accomplishments in various aspects that serve the community in general, and to build individuals in particular, and to develop all aspects of their personality by preparing qualified educational and psychological staff scientifically and professionally, as well as researchers in the field of scientific research according to quality standards and academic accreditation.

The mission of the Department of Education and Psychology is to take all necessary measures to develop educational and psychological cadres and to advance the mission of education in collaboration with other departments in the college through coordination with relevant agencies, bodies, and ministries. The department aims to enhance its educational programs in a way that reflects on the quality of its outputs by preparing distinguished teachers of high quality before service and developing them professionally during service, encouraging scientific studies, providing psychological services to community members, and offering consultations to both the public and private sectors. This is achieved through the various programs of the department at the undergraduate level and the resources, both material and human, that the department provides.

  • The Department of Education and Psychology seeks to achieve a number of goals that align with the objectives of the college and serve the interests of the local community in light of the requirements and characteristics of modern society:
  • Preparing highly qualified graduates with exceptional knowledge and skills in their field of work.
  • Participation in community service and activating the partnership between the Department of Education and Psychology and community institutions related to mental health through research projects.
  • Providing the student teacher with knowledge related to the psychological characteristics of the learner, their learning methods, how to interact with them, guidance and counseling techniques, and solving their problems at different stages of education.
  • Providing an educational program to achieve integration between educational and psychological experiences to prepare an outstanding teacher and a psychological counselor capable of achieving goals and contributing to the development and advancement of the community.

Where it seeks to qualify individuals psychologically and educationally, the Department of Education and Psychology is one of the departments of the Faculty of Education at Nalut University, where students in the bachelor's program study a set of psychological and educational courses offered by the department as part of the educational and psychological preparation.

I conclude by praising the role of the esteemed faculty members in the department. I commend the tireless efforts of everyone who is diligently working to advance the service of knowledge and education at Nalut University.

The semester system according to the decision of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research No. (465) for the year 2022 regarding the approval of the regulatory framework for the Colleges of Education at public Libyan universities, where the semester system has been initiated for the academic year 2022/2023.
